JENNIFER FOREHAND

Jennifer Forehand was born with a deep passion for creating visual art. From mud pies to story books, as a young girl and still today she excels best when her imagination can run wild and free. Jennifer attended The Academy of Arts, Science & Technology her Senior year in high school and went on to further her creative arts skills at the University of South Carolina where she double majored in Finance and Management, and minored in Studio Arts - 3D Design with an emphasis in ceramics. College friends and students were always surprised when walking into Jennifer’s college housing due to its mature and creative presentation. After years in the finance and banking industry and helping friends with their decorating dilemas on the side, she decided to take a leap of faith and align her career with her heart's longing to inspire and help others through her creative passion.
WHat inspired the name jasper + Phoenix?
It all began with divine inspiration. Jennifer knew she wanted to glorify God, after all, He created her and bestowed her with many artistic talents. Jennifer knew that God was boldly confirming to her that she was on the right path as she considered a career change. One night, the name Jasper + Phoenix settled within Jennifer’s core. Recently, she had taken a course in Revelations and Jasper was a precious stone used to describe the radiance of God on His throne. Jennifer had always loved the story of the Phoenix, a bird that dies and is once again, reborn anew.
Jasper + Phoenix is the story of renewal and resurrection. Stirred in the middle of the night, Jennifer awoke to research these words that continued to dance around her head. That’s when it all came full circle. In Jennifer’s research, she discovered that Jasper is the traditional birthstone of March, the month she was born. Just as the Phoenix rises from the ash, the Jasper, too, is formed from either sediment or ash. Jasper in this sense is an opaque stone, but in bible scripture it is translucent, brilliant and strong like a diamond—which should be no surprise that it was used in Aaron’s breastplate in the Old Testament and the protective walls surrounding the new holy city of Jerusalem in Revelations are also made of Jasper. Much to the reflection of Christ, the Phoenix sacrifices itself on a nest of frankincense and myrrh and rose again three days later—renewed and more vibrant than before.
Jennifer loves to witness transformation, seeing people rise from their hardships and struggles in life with new strength and zest for life. Not only in people, but she finds much satisfaction in taking something old and worn down, and giving it new life again—from furniture to jewelry and neglected spaces. This is something Jennifer finds fulfilling and sees as symbolic of our own redemption and renewal of spirit through Christ.
